Eye-Spy: You can see everything from The London Eye

The London Eye Feature

Monday morning we said to ArgeyDaughter “What would you like to do today? You can choose the activity”. “London Eye!” came the enthusiastic response.

So off we went. We ran a few errands and then made our way to the Eye.  We bought the tickets and I must say it was cheaper than I thought.  We combined the London Eye with a river cruise and for a family ticket paid £104 which I thought wasn’t too bad (I was expecting that for the Eye alone).

BUDGET TRAVEL TIPS

Just FYI: It’s cheaper to buy the tickets online the day before you want to go than it is to buy them there (or online) on the day. Tickets for 2 Adults and 2 Children for the London Eye costs £94 when bought on site, but if you buy online the day before, it will cost £84.80. The savings get even better if you couple your London Eye ticket with other tours/attractions like we did. Find the official ticket savings on the London Eye discount deals page. Don’t forget to check places like Groupon for special deals for attractions like the London Eye. Just remember, when you buy tickets online for various attractions you often get told you need to print out the receipt or tickets. Many hotels will print things like this for you, but if you save the PDF receipt to your smart phone, or iPad/tablet, you can just show the hosts your phone and they will accept it. Just remember to check if there is a code that needs to be scanned, you might need to check if the phone can be scanned.

The trip on the Eye takes about 30minutes to go around.  You walk into your pod while it is still moving as the eye only stops to let people with wheelchair access on or off.  Remember the fun house at the show where there is that rolling pipe thing that you walk through? Well, it’s kinda like that only a lot slower.

I must say the view though, is absolutely spectacular.  135m off the ground at its highest point, the London Eye offers you a 360º view of London.

All in all, everyone loved the trip around the Eye.  It was well worth the money and the time to see London in such a unique way. Next time we are down this way we will visit the London Aquarium as well! Can’t wait!

  1. Hi. Totally agree. It was a highlight for me when I went to London with my sister just before Gem was born. You feel like you’re in the clouds!
    Glad you’re all having fun.
Loved your take on the Christmas message and carols at the church, too. As you probably know, we’re not religious – but it still gave me food for thought, and yes, I can really imagine the whole Mary-teen-pregnancy-angst! Xxx
