Jorvik Viking Centre

I don’t know what to say about the Jorvik Viking Centre. It was such an incredible place.

The first thing we did was wait in the line for 27 minutes, 54.48 seconds, in a line in the rain. Please make sure your parents buy the tickets online before you go! That way you don’t have to wait in the queue outside.

Make sure you book your tickets first, otherwise you could be stuck waiting in the rain like us!

The first room we went into was a glass floored room, and under the glass you could see the excavation site under the glass. In an area in the room there was an interactive board where you could do your own excavation thing on wooden bowls, leather tunic, glass beads or iron tools.

The interactive screen, and the glass floor that allows you to see the excavation site underneath.

Then we went to the next room which was my favourite part, because it was a ride around a place that was set up to be an old Viking village.

ArgeySon and I getting ready to go on the Viking Village ride.

On the ride they had a shoe making stall, a blacksmith’s house, fish cleaners, boats and loads more things.

You sat in a car with a pole across your lap that stopped you from falling out, and there was a TV screen in front of your seat and they had information about the places you were on the ride. If you chose the “kids english” you had a kids voice in your ear from the speakers above your head telling you what each village scene was about.

After the ride there was a room where all the artefacts were displayed from the excavated Viking Village in York.

It is a very good place and I would recommend going there.
